Year 3 Enjoyed Their Baking!

Category: Uncategorizedsedgewick.lm @ 3:47 pm

This week Year 3 were learning about weights and measures. For homework they had to do some baking.  All of them enjoyed the activity and eating the results.  All sorts of items were made from bread to birthday cakes!

Maths Challenge

Category: Uncategorizedsedgewick.lm @ 3:32 pm

On my calculator I divided one whole number by another whole number and got the answer 3.125

I know that both numbers were less than 50, but can’t remember what they were.

Can you work out what they were? You may use a calculator.
Once you’ve had a chance to think about it, you can post your comment

Thank you to Cambridge University for this problem.

ICT and Spanish Vokis

Category: UncategorizedMr Simpson @ 12:19 pm

This term in our ICT lessons 3W have been learning how to record, manipulate and use sound. Using work they have written and performed orally in Spanish lessons, the boys have recorded the performance of their poetry during our ICT lessons and we are now uploading them to the blog for you to enjoy. We uploaded the recordings into a free program called Voki. We will shortly upload a Voki telling you how you can use Voki at home for your own recordings.

The boys would really appreciate it if you could leave a comment in the box at the bottom of the page.

Please click on the small play symbol to hear the recordings.

Welcome!

Category: UncategorizedMr Simpson @ 12:51 pm

3S would like to welcome Harry Whittaker to their form.  We really hope that he settles in quickly and enjoys his first term at Nottingham High Junior School.

Perhaps you would like to try this problem boys!

‘Carrying Cards’

Each child in blue is holding a number which is four more than the child in the same row wearing red.
The children in yellow shirts each have a number which is double the number of the child in the same row wearing red.
Some of the numbers that the children in red, blue or yellow shirts are holding have got rubbed off. What should the numbers be?
Can you work out how the numbers that the children in green are holding have been worked out? What are the two missing numbers?
If there was another row of four children standing behind the fourth row, what numbers would they be holding?
